Are Your Outlets Grounded?
Older houses are often found to have 2 pronged outlets or ungrounded outlets. Whiile it only takes the two wires to bring electricity to your appliances and have them work correctly there is a problem with safety. The third wire is a safety device built into your electrical system. It is the wire which is referred to as a ground and it is designed to provide an effective path to "earth" to help prevent electrocution hazards should an appliance or its wiring fail.

Possible Warranty Issues
The following appliances commonly require a grounded receptacle for both safety and warranty reasons. For a more information consult your manufacture or warranty documentation.Grounded Outlets

What about GFI's?
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI’s) are intended to protect individuals using an electrical device particularly in a wet area. The GFCI provides protection to the user by monitoring the current and immediately shutting off the power to the electrical device when a problem is detected. GFCI’s are a safety item and reccommended in all bathrooms, countertops, and garage locations to provide proper protection from electrical shock and potential electrocution.
